
MICHAEL C. ABRAMS
ARCHITECT / INSTRUCTOR
Michael C. Abrams is a licensed architect who teaches architectural design, sketching, history and drawing at the University of Maryland and the George Washington University. He is the author of the best- selling book The Art of City Sketching: a field manual (Routledge, 2014). In addition, he was a practicing architect in Chicago and Florence (Italy). He has also taught at Catholic University of America, Marymount University, Corcoran School of Art + Design, and Columbia College Chicago.

Mr. Abrams has also won several national and international design competitions and AIA awards, most notably: One Site, Infinite Solutions (1st place) - sponsored by AIA Indiana and the Soundroom (honorary mention) - sponsored by OpenGap.
He has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) with an emphasis on Architectural Design and Design Theory. He also has a Bachelor in Environmental Design from the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras, PR).
As an architect Mr. Abrams has designed multi-family residences, senior living apartments, financial institutions, art centers, and highway toll pavilions. His main areas of expertise are architectural design, free-hand renderings, and project management.
